In the heart of Chianti, not far from Florence, the warm and friendly hospitality of "Il Poggiolo" will welcome you in the idyllic Tuscan countryside, in an intimate setting rich in history and marked by authenticity.
This beautiful house, with a large private garden, is on the first floor of a typical Tuscan farmhouse, situated on the top of a hill in a strategic and dominant position, 5 minutes from Greve in Chianti, and enjoys a breathtaking view of the surrounding bucolic landscape: rolling hills, the little church of San Cresci, the romantic medieval village of Montefioralle, cypresses, hidden rows of vines and cultivated olive groves.
The apartment, with its two spacious bedrooms, can comfortably accommodate up to 4 people and is the ideal place to visit Tuscany and its cities of art, such as Florence, Siena and San Gimignano, the countless villages that dot the rolling hills of Chianti and the farms of the region, and then return to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and enjoy the peace and unspoilt beauty of this lovely place.
Il Poggiolo is ideal for a family holiday with children who can play safely outdoors, a group of friends or a romantic getaway for two, or anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the peace and tranquillity that the Tuscan countryside and beautiful hills have to offer.
Walking through the well-kept garden, you come to a staircase (8 stairs) that leads to the front door of the house and to a jasmine-covered pergola with table and chairs for dining in the cool summer evenings.
When you enter the apartment, you will find yourself in the kitchen-dining room, which is equipped with everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever you wish. There's also a sofa and TV.
From the living room you have access to the sleeping area: 2 cosy rooms, one with twin beds and one with a king size bed, both with large wardrobes and stunning views over the hills and valley. Both rooms have ceiling fans.
There is a large bathroom with a shower to complete the apartment.
The large private garden is equipped with a gazebo and sofas to enjoy a good glass of wine when you return from your sightseeing days and to cool down on hot summer evenings. Deck chairs and sun loungers are available for sunbathing.
Wi-Fi washing machine, mosquito nets, heating, and parking space are available to our guests.

THE AREA
The apartment is part of Il Poggiolo farmhouse, nestled among the vineyards and olive groves surrounding the picturesque town of Greve in Chianti, from which it is 3.5km away.
In Greve in Chianti, halfway between Siena and Florence, you can breathe the air of the hills and visit a medieval village where time seems to have stood still. Here you can capture evocative images.
We are located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, which is famous for the production of the world-famous wine of the same name. Since the 14th century, the area has been characterised by the "image of the black rooster", reproduced by Vasari, among others, on the ceiling of the Salone dei Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Just a few minutes' drive from the town of Greve you can discover numerous farms and estates, such as the Vignamaggio farm and the castles of Uzzano and da Verrazzano, the Palagio di Panzano and the village of Lamole, where you can taste exceptional wines, in particular the local Chianti Classico.
We are in an area that is not only famous for its wines, but also for its gastronomy: the main square has become home to an increasing number of open-air restaurants, bars and wine cellars, where visitors can enjoy the typical atmosphere of a Tuscan village, full of inviting scents and flavours.
Moreover, the area is dotted with farms producing the delicious Pecorino cheese typical of the area.
Absolutely worth a visit are the towns of Greve in Chianti (3km), which can be reached in just 5 minutes by car. Here you will find all the main services such as banks and supermarkets, Panzano (6km), Radda (16km), Gaiole (28km), Castellina (17km), Siena (44km) and of course Florence (32km).
This area is also ideal for slower travellers.
Indeed, wonderful trekking or mountain bike trails start from Greve.
Cycling or walking in Chianti is an extraordinary experience that will leave you with the pleasant taste of going back in time, with pleasant and typical encounters and views of unspoilt countryside: vineyards, ancient castles, abbeys, monasteries and, above all, the dense network of white roads that criss-cross the hills and small villages of unbelievable charm.
Greve in Chianti, with its medieval origins, is undoubtedly one of the most famous and charming Chianti towns, and can rightly be considered the capital of the Florentine Chianti, as it is completely immersed in its territory and is one of the largest and most important towns.
The square with its characteristic elongated triangle shape is framed on three sides by porticoes under which to stroll and is enlivened by restaurants, historic butcher stores, wine stores and other small stores with artisanal products. Watching over her is the statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano and the ever-present Black Rooster, symbol of the wine produced here.
A large open-air market is also held in the village every Saturday morning.
It is part of the Tuscan charm to stroll through the picturesque streets and squares of the Chianti villages and visit the markets.
In addition, every fourth Sunday of the month there is a Special Market called Il Pagliaio, whose protagonists are organic products and their producers.
Not far from the center, the fortified village of Montefioralle stands on a hill. A real jewel, where you will find yourself walking among houses and stone walls, along narrow paved streets that wind around the ancient castle, the original nucleus of the village.
The village offers extraordinary views and a panorama to take your breath away.
Continuing along the Via Chiantigiana, toward the heart of Chianti, you will reach Panzano in Chianti. Also developed at the foot of a castle, it offers fascinating medieval buildings, churches and ancient parish churches. The town is divided into two parts: the historic center at the top, from where you can enjoy wonderful views, and the more modern part at the bottom, with restaurants, butcher stores and other stores with excellent food and wine products.
